David F. Burrell

 BROOKFIELD TWP David Franklin Burrell, 76, was born September 30, 1940 and died Sunday January 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Fannie Mae (Farner) Burrell, his wife, Goldie C. (Phillips) Burrell, whom he married May 7, 1960 and died March 25, 2013; their son, David C. Burrell and his siblings, Jack, Jim, Jess, Golden, Lonnie, Mary and Bonnie. Dave is survived by his daughter, Diana (Charles) Shipton; 5 grandchildren, Amanda, David, James, Allison and Elaina; great granddaughter, Natalie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Mae Phillips and Donald and Linda Phillips. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, neighbors and bowling buddies. Dave served with the United States Army as a medic and retired from Sawhill Tubular in Wheatland, PA. Dave, Goldie, Diana, Charlie and sometimes the grandkids, Amanda, James and Elaina played weekly games of Euchre until Goldie was gone, then Elaina or James sat in for her. Dave enjoyed fishing, camping, fixing things, golf and mostly bowling. He was a good bowler who had a natural talent for it and won or placed at several bowling tournaments over the years with his final big win being the 2010 PA Senior Champ for 9 pin no-tap which earned him an entry to Reno. Several people credit his coaching and know-how as the reason that they are better bowlers. Dave also enjoyed going to Estate and Yard Sales with Goldie and then later with his daughter or alone. He enjoyed finding treasures to sell in the family’s gift shop in Hubbard, now run by his daughter. His greatest joy other than these was his cat Zippy, who will miss him very much.
