Helen J. (Walzer) Green Vasey

HUBBARD Helen J. (Walzer) Green Vasey, 86, died Monday evening May 22, 2017 at St Elizabeth Health Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1930 in New Castle, PA., a daughter of Helen V. (Smialowski) Walzer Gladis.

She was employed by The Avalon Inn, in Howland as a waitress for 25 years, retiring in 1998. After her retirement, she worked part time at Devine’s Shop and Save as a cashier. “TOOTS” as she was known to her family and friends, enjoyed being outside working in her yard, working with her tools and building and remodeling homes. She also enjoyed reading, playing games on her computer, was an avid photographer and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her husband, Kenneth D Vasey, whom she married April 1972, died July 1972.

She leaves her daughter, Linda J. Green Clark of Hubbard; a brother, Anthony Walzer of Hermitage; a sister, Rita D. Anderson of Warren; a grandson, John A. (Lynn) DeSantis of Struthers; a granddaughter, Theresa A. DeSantis of Austintown; four great grandchildren, Ashley and John Jr. DeSantis and Jessica and Tommy Thompson; one great-great granddaughter, Camila Thompson, and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her mother; step father, John Gladis; and one brother, Darrell W Walzer.

Honoring Helen's wishes, there were no calling hours or services.

Helen’s final resting place will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
