HUBBARD A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday August 25, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating and Deacon John Bartos assisting for Ronald R. Dobos who died Saturday afternoon August 20, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Ron was born June 29, 1946, the son of Joseph and Goldie (Tranick) Dobos Jr. He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1964 and remained in the area. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country from March 1966 until January 1970. He retired from Delphi Packard Electric in 2001 after working for 38 years. He was a member of Spring Hills Golf Club. Ron enjoyed bowling, gardening, canning hot peppers and listening to country music as loud as the stereo would allow. He was an avid sports fan and could be seen around town most days sporting Cleveland Browns or Cleveland Indians attire. His favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends, sitting on his front porch cracking jokes, telling stories and singing silly songs while enjoying an ice cold beer, which he referred to as “the nectar of the Gods”. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Jane; a brother, John and his mother and father-in-law, Harold and Eleanor Shaffer all of Hubbard. His memory and passion for life will live on through the people with whom he made his home; his wife, the former Carol Shaffer, whom he married July 26, 1979; his daughter, Amanda; granddaughter, Paige Seech and grandson, Zachary (Emily Perry) Seech. Ron also leaves a daughter, Tami (Brian) Pishkur; a son, Thomas (Shari) Dobos and five more grandchildren, Jordyn, TJ, Karter and Cannon of Hubbard and Michael of Austintown. In addition, he leaves a brother, Joseph III of Hubbard; a sister, Clara (Jim) Cozy of Ashtabula; an honorary granddaughter, McKenzie Slagle of Hubbard; close family friend, Erin Mshar; his “favorite furry friend” toy poodle, Julius as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post No. 540 Trumbull County Honor Guard. Ron’s family would like to give a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Nick Schuller and a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Charles Sammarone. They would also like to thank the rest of the staff at MVI Hospice Care, the aides from Caring Hearts of the Valley, Sonya and Denise and the Belmont VA Clinic for the amazing care they provided for Ron.
