William R. Clark

May 9, 1939 ~ September 22, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

HUBBARD Memorial services will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church for William R. Clark, 78, who died Friday evening September 22, 2017 at Vista Center at the Ridge in Mineral Ridge. He was born May 9, 1939 in Youngstown, a son of William and Cleo Grace Wooten Clark.

Mr. Clark, of the Catholic faith, was a 1957 graduate of East High School having been voted Most Athletic. He received Bachelor of Arts and Engineering Degrees at the University of Notre Dame on a full ride football scholarship as a running back. After college he worked for Xerox in Rochester, NY from 1963 to 1971, then was a sales engineer in Ohio at Parker Hannifin. Bill was a generous, kind and patient man. He was intelligent in many ways, with a deep understanding of human nature which made him slow to speak, to judge or to anger. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. To his grandkids, nieces, nephews and neighbor kids, Bill was like a favorite teacher, coach, activity director and entertainer rolled into one. He loved all kids. He was very involved and instrumental in the upbringing of his 6 grandchildren especially. Each of them will attest to the profound impact he had on their lives, and how much they loved and admired their Pop Pop. They were the light of his life. Bill loved nature and watching the birds he kept well fed. He was very creative and loved music, especially music in the park, and visiting local plays, festivals and museums. Bill loved the simple things in life, like flying kites and paper airplanes, blowing bubbles, Amish towns, and Mill Creek Park. He loved to share these things with whomever he could. He will be very deeply missed.

He leaves his wife, the former Barbara Ann Ross, whom he married November 25, 1961; two sons, Jeffrey Clark of Hubbard and Gregory Clark of Erie, CO; two daughters, Mary Katherine Motter of Nashville, TN and Juli Ann (John) Hugel of Girard; a brother, Thomas (Rosie) Clark of Austintown; three sisters, Rita Jane Smith of Philadelphia, PA, Diane (George) Bagnall of Palm Coast, FL and Paula Clark of King of Prussia, PA; six grandchildren, Joey Kovack, Kerstyn, Cara and Lindsay Motter, Kylie and Lexie Hugel and two great grandchildren, Alex May and Ophelia Kovack; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Clark.

Family and friends may call on Saturday October 7, 2017, one hour prior to the memorial services from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
