William T. DeSantis

William T. DeSantis, 81, of Girard and formerly of Hubbard, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 in Sharon Regional Health Care System following a long illness. Mr. DeSantis was born on December 29, 1935 in Hubbard the son of the late William Anthony and Minnie Marie Carano DeSantis and was a life long area resident. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. DeSantis was a member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard. As a teenager, Mr. DeSantis worked for his uncle at Nick’s Grocery Store. He was a former employee of Republic Steel, EW. Bliss and retired in 2006 from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation where he worked for 25 years as a weigh master. He had a hobby of cars and he was an expert at being a great father. Mr. DeSantis is survived by his two children William A. DeSantis and Lisa A. (Bill Scully III) DeSantis both of New Castle; a brother Richard A. DeSantis of Hubbard; a sister Carmel M. DeSantis of Masury and four grandchildren Michael A. DeSantis, John A. Ady, Alexandra W. Scully and William H. Scully IV. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his former wife Mary Norene Chaplow DeSantis and a sister Helen Ambrose.
