HUBBARD Funeral services will be held on Monday October 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating for Benjamin J. Lewis, 88, who died Wednesday afternoon September 26, 2018 at Sharon Regional Hospital. He was born August 28, 1930 in Wooster, a son of Edward R. and Adeline F. Zarlingo Lewis and moved to Hubbard in 1958.
Mr. Lewis, a 1948 graduate of North High School served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He was a machinist for Wean United and enjoyed gardening. Benjamin loved to watch his grandkids and great grandkids playing sports and never missed an activity they were involved in.
He leaves his wife, the former Erla M. Sweetapple, whom he married October 30, 1954; a son, Benjamin J. Lewis Jr and his wife Patty of Hubbard; a daughter, Sandy Romano and her husband Chris of Cortland; a brother, Edward Lewis of Campbell; 2 sisters, Phyllis Spagnola and her husband John of Youngstown and Shirley Lewis of Poland; 7 grandchildren, Patrick Lewis and his wife Amber, Benny Lewis and his wife Sarah, Joey Lewis and his wife Melisa, Matt Lewis and Carmen, Christopher and Alex Romano; 5 great grandchildren, Aubree, Cole, Ellie, Austin and Raegan.
Benjamin was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harry and Lester Lewis and two sisters, Dorothy Evans and Vincetta Rohan.
Family and friends may call on Monday October 1, 2018 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
