A private family service was held on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home for Homer Ray Fox, 78 who departed this life on Monday June 4, 2018 at Caprice Health Care Center in North Lima.
Homer was born December 22, 1939, in Sligo, PA the son of Reed and Dorothy Fox.
He was a 1958 graduate of Hubbard High School and received the Eagle Excellence award in 2003 from the Hubbard Alumni Association.
Homer worked for 20 years as a Senior Buyer for JCPenney’s retiring in 1989 and was an owner and operator of Riordan’s Sporting Goods for 12 years.
Homer was a member of the Hubbard Community Youth League for 45 years where he managed numerous baseball teams and spent 18 years as the league’s president. He enjoyed watching the youth of Hubbard play sports especially his children and grandchildren.
When Homer wasn’t watching his granddaughter he enjoyed sitting out on the bench smoking a cigar in front of Eagle Wear talking to people of the community. He was an avid Notre Dame fan. His wife of 50 years, Theresa Fox, whom he married October 24, 1959, passed away February 24, 2010. Homer leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Dorthy Fox-Williams of Erie, PA, Three sons Ray (Joyce), Ron and Rick (Lisa) all of Hubbard. Three grandchildren Hayden, Augusta (Mom Susanne) and Madelyn. Four sisters Linda Coon-Pianta (Jack), Erie PA, Dimple Taylor (Dave), Lake City, PA, Karen Pattison-Borek (Frank) Lehigh Acres, FL, and Kathryn Waters, Kanab, UT; One brother Gary Fox, Lehigh Acres, FL. Three Stepsisters Colleen Kiefer, Struthters, OH, Kathleen (John) Strawbridge, Hubbard, OH and Katheryn Forman, Hubbard, OH and one Stepbrother Raymond Rochford, Masury, OH.
His wife, father, his stepmother Pat and a granddaughter Makenna preceded Homer in death.
In lieu of flowers, Homer’s family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Homer’s name to Hubbard Community Youth League, P.O. Box 208, Hubbard, Ohio 44425.
Homer will be laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
